About Jake
-
Jake is a black & tan lurcher. (Huh? That's not a lurcher!)
Jake was adopted from Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home in August 2004. He now lives the life of Riley in a leafy suburb of Edinburgh. His interests include agility, running like the wind, enticing other dogs to chase him, fellow sighthounds Molly & Steve, squirrels, swans, plush swans, swans on telly, Portobello beach, the Edinburgh hills, sofas, & snoozing.
Jake wears Earth Dog hemp collars. His collar tag (compliant with KC agility regs) is from the excellent Indigo Collar Tags.

Notes on the Kingdom of Fife show
Another fairly local show for us – only 50 minutes drive over the bridges on a misty Saturday morning. It was a small, relaxed and very well organised show, with only three rings which ran like clockwork for grades 1-2, … Continue reading

The show on the race course
On the morning of our first agility show this year, Jake and I took our dawn stroll in a winter wonderland. Well, it was frosty. We had to scrape the windscreen. Still, it was only a short drive to the … Continue reading

The show with a judge dressed as a Christmas Tree
Running orders were in our favour at the Woodside December show. We didn’t need to arrive to walk our first course until 9.30 am – an unheard-of lie-in for an agility show, particularly as the venue was only half an … Continue reading

The restaurant with an agility show attached
An hour’s drive west on the motorway and we’re at the Ingliston Equestrian Centre, by far the swankiest agility venue we’ve ever been to. None of that freezing our backsides off in a grassy field. No, here we had three … Continue reading

If they could choose their own prizes
Jake was given a rosette for his most recent success. But I know what he really wanted was this empty egg box he nicked from the recycling. So I have included both in the glory picture. It was a great … Continue reading

Mixed fortunes to match the weather
Scottish Beardie ShowNon-dog-nerds (what are you doing here??) – beardie is short for bearded collie, we weren’t at a folk festival. We spent the 2nd day of our Aberdeenshire holiday at the Sunday of the Bearded Collie Club (Scottish Branch) … Continue reading

Local boy makes good
We only went to the Sunday of the East Lothian show. Any initial smugness about having a lie-in because it’s just down the road was forgotten when we pulled onto the city bypass and saw the electronic boards saying ROAD … Continue reading

Kelso – the agility show
Maybe it was the faboulous steak in the Buccleuch Arms the night before. Maybe it was having a day out / restful evening instead of a gruelling day at work / frenzied preparation / early start. In any case, we … Continue reading

The show at the end of the runway
The Scottish Kennel Club May show runs for several days, only one of which includes agility. But what a treat having a show in Edinburgh! A mere 20 minute drive! That meant we only had to get up at our … Continue reading

Green paws at Woodside
Not a bad spot for a show! And in spite of the forecast (and the ominous skies) there were only the lightest of showers all weekend. Very soon after I took this picture, back in the exercise area, I saw … Continue reading
